What are predicted/reference values?

In spirometry, predicted or reference values are values used to compare an individual’s lung function test results to what is considered normal for someone of the same age, height, gender, and sometimes other demographic factors. These values are crucial for assessing whether a patient’s lung function falls within the expected range or if there are abnormalities that may indicate a respiratory condition.
